Stellan Perrick - Golden Baby - Song Review - Retro Alternative Pop-Rock from Stuttgart, Germany

Today I am writing about a promising retro alternative pop-rock artist; Stellan Perrick, from Stuttgart, Germany with; Golden Baby, his debut single, released in 2022.

Although I don't necessarily listen to music with electronic beats, Stellan Perrick's Golden Baby convinced me to make an exception. As a music enthusiast, composer, and performer myself, there was no point in resisting the fact that it is a visionary work from the German artist as a debut.

Golden Baby is a highly memorizable song, I couldn't forget about it after listening to it once a few months ago. First, it was the sound design and production work that caught my attention. Maybe most of us can imagine blending different styles in our heads and it's not an unusual thing. Only this time, the execution was highly persuasive, carrying both commercial and artistic value at the same time.

The musical input of the song has the same origin as the sound work and they create something meaningful together. Briefly, blending the late 80s and the early 90s retro disco/pop rock influences, reminded me of Queen, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Elton John, Prince, and George Michael in particular.

On the other side of the coin, I think now it is time for Stellan Perrick to convince his listeners with his ability to guide his musical direction. He can get really close to Michael Jackson in his singing, which is impressive, but we also know that this isn't the answer he is looking for.

When I put all these into account, I'd like to say that I had a great time listening to Golden Baby. Impressive full-production work by one man, simply a promising debut. Retro influences of Queen, Michael Jackson, and Prince come to life in modern style of The Weeknd. Thanks for reading.
