Gion Stump & The Lighthouse Project - Dead Birds - Song Review - Progressive Rock from St.Gallen, Switzerland

Today we are featuring a promising psychedelic progressive rock band, Gion Stump & The Lighthouse Project, from St.Gallen, Switzerland, with, "Dead Birds", the new single of the band.

Today, it was the first time I heard of a Swiss band Gion Stump & The Lighthouse Project (still difficult for me to remember properly). I've had the chance to know a few Swiss artists/bands over the years, they are all artistically doing a great job in my opinion. However, Gion Stump & The Lighthouse Project has exceeded all my expectations, had such an impact on me that I immediately shared this song with my band members, and a few other friends, asked about their opinion. I'm sure some of you know this feeling.

First of all, Gion Stump & The Lighthouse Project has the blend of Opeth's decision-making and darkness, with Pink Floyd's composition and instrumentation, a task only a few can achieve in this world. The song literally blew me away when I heard vocals on its 9th second, then I immediately took my handoff from the mouse, gave the rest of the song my full attention.

Technically, this is one of the most natural/traditional-sounding progressive rock sounds with the 80s nostalgic flavour. It is so smooth, soft, and lively, directly touches your current mood.

Additionally, the instrumentation can make a badass song alone, maybe even a soundtrack for a movie. The originality level separates this song from the rest of the world, these ideas gave me the feeling that I only felt from bands such as Opeth, Ihsahn, or Mastodon.

Lastly, Gion Stump & The Lighthouse Project's music style, in general, has a similar approach to their pioneers, Pink Floyd in many ways, yet you never feel like you're listening to something unoriginal even for a second. On the contrary, I feel like, Dead Birds, is one of the most impressive psychedelic progressive rock songs with the potential to become a classic.

On the other hand, I've got no weaknesses to say about Dead Birds, except one thing that two of my friends shared with me today; the singer's English pronunciation. It wasn't a big deal to me, still isn't, yet I started to think about it since both of my friends said the same thing.

Lastly, I personally would never release such a game-changer song without a professionally filmed artistic music video. Unfortunately, Gion Stump & The Lighthouse Project thought differently, and there's nothing we can do about it.

When I take all these into account, I'd like to say that Dead Birds is already one of the most impressive discoveries of Metalhead Community in 2022, immediately earned its place in our new The Next Big Thing In Rock Spotify Playlist.

Please go ahead and check out the links below if you'd like to find out more about the artist/band, follow them on social media, subscribe to their channels to show your support, and not miss any upcoming releases.
