Damnation Defaced – Scorn Song Review

Today we are featuring a promising sludge/doom metal band, CAVERN DEEP, from Sweden. I have reviewed their self-titled debut album, along with its character, style, story, potential, and more.

Damnation Defaced is a promising industrial death metal band I discovered about a month ago with their latest single, “Scorn“, released on September 3, 2021. Now, please give the album a listen while reading the rest of the article.

Scorn impressed me with the power of its mix, at first, and without a doubt, I am not the only one who thinks this way after listening to this song once. But right afterward, you begin to be curious if Damnation Defaced will meet my musical expectations. Well, this part depends on the personal taste a bit, yet I’ll share mine with you below.

We must all know that Damnation Defaced is a very experienced death metal band with 15 years of experience in the industry. I respect them first because of this. So, it is not surprising to hear this established sound and style from them at all. Scorn is their latest single and definitely has a powerful music blend that so many metalheads would be glad to bang their heads in my view. I heard influences from the traditional death metal bands, from modern death metal such as Gojiraprogressive/dark/atmospheric death metal such as Opeth, and an opening minded approach, industrial metal, specifically from Rammstein’s Deutschland.

I personally believe that music is all about the collective success of an exciting musical blend. Those who perform well make this happen this way or another. In our case, Damnation Defaced has already achieved many things in their careers so far, which, stuck together and making music was one of the most admirable things in any band’s case, and still pushing everything forward. So long story short, Scorn is proof that these gentlemen deserve all the respect in this world.

As for the weaknesses, I guess I just couldn’t like the specific music style that much. The overall sound was both modern and traditional, yet it was also commercial to me. And lastly, it wasn’t dark enough, rather the song has reminded me of power metal with its impact, punch, and attack attitude. In this case, it wouldn’t be a mistake that the power metal giants Iced Earth is also within their influences.

When I take all these into account, I’d like to say that I am impressed by Damnation Defaced. I think they are very close to making it to the next level in their careers, without hesitation, all of it well earned.

Please go ahead and check out the links below if you’d like to find out more about the artist/band, follow them on social media, subscribe to their channels to show your support, and not miss any upcoming releases.
