Today, I am reviewing one of the latest singles "Inner Self" by Peace Is Just A Break, a contemporary death metal band from Lausanne, Switzerland, released on August 11, 2022.

As I listen to "Inner Self" on this rainy Monday in the Swiss Alps, I'm struck by the song's monstrous energy and drive. Fans of modern metal with death and melodic metalcore influences are the main audience for this track and they won't get disappointed. The first thing that caught my attention was the band's similar decisions to specific modern death metal bands, such as Lamb of God and In Flames, blending modern metalcore with melodic death metal, delivering a convincing and dynamic sound.
In terms of sound design, the band opted for a modern metal sound with once again similarities to Lamb of God and In Flames. The sound is processed, heavy, modern, and dynamic, leaving almost no headroom in the mix. The result is a tight modern melodic death metal track that's sure to please fans of the genre. Although their musical concept has familiar Western vibes and similarities in its general approach, Peace Is Just a Break possesses all the necessary qualities to be considered an international contender.

On the other side of the coin, I have to admit that I couldn't hear and see enough distinguishing character in Peace is Just a Break. Inner Self ended up being a familiar sounding metal song to me not only for its musical concept, but also with its artistic vision, influences, adaptation, sound design, production, branding, and visuals.

In conclusion, discovering another super tight metal band from Lausanne is always a great pleasure, I'll be personally following their work from now on. A promising metal band with monstrous energy and familiar influences of In Flames and Lamb of God in its concept, blending modern metalcore with melodic death metal.
