10 Live Music Spots in Paris, Curated by French Artist Marie Piumi
What is good music? To me, sometimes it's the melody echoing from a street musician, a track playing on the radio during a journey, a moving score in a film, the ambient tunes in a bar or restaurant, and sometimes, it's in my favorite record. It's never been just limited to the metal instrumentation I often write about. Today, we delve into the heart of Paris, seeking out its musical gems not only limited to metal listeners, as guided by the talented Parisian alternative music artist, Marie Piumi.
Marie's music seamlessly intertwines her life's tales with the soul of France and Paris, uniquely branded by her skill and authenticity in expressing her story. Over the years, I've written extensively about music, and it's not often to encounter a vocalist who stands out as distinctively as Marie. With just her guitar and mesmerizing vocals, she now introduces us to some of Paris' most cherished venues for live music, in her words.

Le Caveau des Oubliettes, 52 RUE GALANDE, 75005 Paris
One of those places where you feel like you've traveled back in time. The Caveau des Oubliettes, located in the Latin Quarter of Paris, has retained its old-fashioned structure: a former prison. A renowned live music club (jazz, blues, funk, soul...), big names like Prince have performed here. And despite its popularity, you can still find authenticity and pure, relaxed intimacy here.

Café de la Gare

Café de la Gare, 1 AVENUE CORENTIN CARIOU, 75019 Paris
La Gare / Le Gore takes its name from the rehabilitation of a former station concourse. You can still see the authenticity in the sight of the train tracks stuck to the place. Thanks to its height and depth, it's perfect for not disturbing the neighborhood. So large, in fact, that it can accommodate a large number of people for an enthusiastic audience. Concerts are held under the La Gare banner, and the club afterwards under the Le Gore banner. The outside is just as pleasant, with its vast, long entrance, where you can take a break to breathe in the air or smoke a cigarette between two songs. Open every day of the week.

Les Trois Baudets

Les Trois Baudets, 64 Bd DE CLICHY, 75018 Paris
Founded in the 40s, Les Trois Baudets has seen some big names come and go. Located in the 18th arrondissement, in the heart of Montmartre and its pedestrian streets, this venue played host from the 50s to the 90s to such names as Jacques Brel, Henri Salvador, George Brassens, Boris Vian... As an artist, who wouldn't dream of performing in such a venue with such soul? The hall's layout is similar to that of a theater or opera house, with a surface area on a human scale. This venue shouldn't disappear for anything in the world, and should continue to reinvent itself by encouraging new and renowned artists to perform there, so that the soul of Les Trois Baudets can continue to be and remain in the Parisian air of the 18th arrondissement. See you at 64 bd de Clichy to keep it going.
