Ivan Beecroft – Liars, Freaks & Fools Album Review – Metalhead Community
Today we are featuring another traditional rock artist; Ivan Beecroft, from Burwood, Australia. We have reviewed his latest release; Liars, Freaks & Fools, along with its character, style, story, potential and more.
Ivan Beecroft is an upcoming traditional retro/prog rock artist I have discovered about two weeks ago with his latest release; Liars, Freaks & Fools, which was released not long ago on 11th of May, 2019. As I usually do, I read about the artist a little bit before writing the review. The things I learned about him and his story certainly made a big difference in my approach to his music. I personally have huge respect for those who have come to a certain point from zero and achieved something in life, just like the artist in our example; Ivan Beecroft. He has earned our respects with his determination, love, and passion for music as an individual and also as an artist.
Liars, Freaks & Fools album is mostly based on traditional rock ideas, elements, political lyrics and content, which immediately reminded me of some legendary albums of Pink Floyd. They both have a lot in common such as the main concept, song structures, elements, lyrics, view, perspective, vocal style, and ideas. I used to listen to Pink Floyd a lot when I was in high school, trying to understand the reason of their musical success. Almost everything that characterizes Pink Floyd’s music style is valid for Ivan Beecroft’s as well, especially for this very album.
Ivan Beecroft is a self-made man who took part in every step in the creating and releasing periods of this album. He has written, played all instruments, recorded, mixed, engineered, mastered and produced everything by himself (if I am not mistaken). This, my friends, is what I call the spirit, a genuine force to do what you love the most in life. This story might sound not that important to you at first, but it certainly will play a key role in the success of Ivan in time. Liars, Freaks & Fools is just a step ahead in his career. In my book, this is a successful album where Ivan is showing potential with his traditional rock compositions, the energy, and the atmosphere.
Liars, Freaks, and Fools is Ivan Beecroft’s fifth official release and I can say that both musically and technically there is still a lot to improve. As I have mentioned before that Ivan himself recorded, mixed and produced this album himself. Honestly, this is an average sounding album where there are some serious issues with the sound balancing, mixing and mastering. The balancing varies between songs. On the other hand, after this moment in the career of a respected artist, he should be showing more of his character in his music style in order to become successful in the long term. I am afraid there’s not much authenticity in this album. I can still hear strong influences from some classic rock and prog rock bands as I have also mentioned above.
So when I take everything into account, I can say that I certainly enjoyed listening to Liars, Freaks and Fools album without a doubt. Ivan Beecroft has his strengths and weaknesses, and I am sure the time will come when we all will be listening to his professionally recorded and produced album. Only then it will be possible for everybody to have a solid idea about his actual potential.
