Ghost Lights – Renaissance 2.0 Album Review – Metalhead Community
Today we are featuring another promising trapcore/metalcore band; Ghost Lights, from Switzerland. We have reviewed their exceptional album; Renaissance 2.0, along with its character, style, story, potential and more.
Ghost Lights is another promising trapcore/rapcore/metalcore band I have discovered about two years ago. They are surely one of the very few bands who are making a big difference with their professionalism and hard working. As you might also remember from some of the previous articles that I mentioned that, bands who are determined and committed enough are the only ones who can be successful in our modern era. In this matter, Ghost lights has started their careers back in 2015 with a full-length metalcore album. After the release and a few shows, they took some time off, reshaped their line up with an additional vocalist who brought a different approach to the band’s musical direction, and they managed to make 5 powerful releases only in two years.
Ghost Lights’ music mostly structured with a delicious blend of metal and electronic elements. Songs are usually addictive, hooky and stimulating, which always reminds me of bands like Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Rammstein and the legendary Prodigy from time to time. Compositions, on the other hand, are built in an easy-going way, focusing more on the general vibe and the taste that it leaves on listeners’ minds. Honestly, this is not my personal favorite music style and I can’t say I am too much into it still on this day. However, there are so many things that I admire about Ghost Lights, as well as so many things to learn by looking at their careers closely.
When you look at the careers of successful artists and bands from any kind of music, you’ll see that they all have something authentic and original which separates them from the rest of the world. And this is the actual reason that their name still lives on even on this day. Ghost Lights, in this matter, has characteristics on their way of making art as well. First of all, these Swiss gentlemen are very talented at everything they do. When you look at their visuals and music video collection, you’ll find yourself in a different dimension. This is their thing; being creative and productive. They are one of the very few, extremely productive bands I have seen for a very long time. Hands down. After watching almost all of their materials online, I started to feel like, whenever I see something closer to their concept I think like; “oh, this looks like Ghost Lights’ stuff”. This, probably the most crucial thing for every kind of brand in this world; “originality”. Briefly, Ghost Lights is not only music but stylish integrity of art that brings visuals and music together in a unique way.

The general attitude Ghost Lights (not only in Renaissance 2.0 album but almost on their every release) is protest and unorthodox. True artists are those who are brave enough to tell masses the truth at any cost. They are often doing admirable work with their music and visuals that will live on forever. For me, having the right eye is the key to any kind of art. Believe me, nobody can f*ck with a band who can make 4 releases in one year. Big respect.
Technically, Renaissance 2.0 has top-class standards in every way. Everything sounds super moody and atmospheric from the beginning to the end. The general production is very clean, clear, very well balanced, polished, engineered, mixed and mastered. The energy level goes up and down all the time but never loses the excitement, the freshness about it. I don’t know if they are producing their music themselves or working with a professional for it but in both ways the result is phenomenal. When you listen to the music carefully, you’ll hear how many details are there in every single song. In my opinion, producing this kind of music is much more challenging than just mixing a rock album. In this matter, I’d like to congratulate the musicians as well as their assistant, sound engineer, instrument tech, additional musicians, helper, coffee maker, and every single soul who has taken part in the creation of this amazing album. Exceptional job!
When I take all these into account, I’d like to say that I am a big admirer of Ghost Lights and everything they do. They have an authentic way of understanding music as well as big potential, professionalism, determination, creativity, artistic approach, and the necessary work ethics to make it to the top in the music industry. Renaissance 2.0 is an album that will surely make Ghost Lights proud all their lives!
