Black Reuss - Metamorphosis - Album Review - Melodic Gothic Metal from Liechtenstein

Today we are featuring a promising melodic gothic metal artist, Black Reuss, from Liechtenstein. I have reviewed their debut album, Metamorphosis, exploring its character, style, story, potential, and more.

Black Reuss is an impressive new band with a sound that has captivated me like few others have in a long time. I discovered these talented musicians a month ago with their debut album, "Metamorphosis," which was released on June 4, 2021. I encourage you to listen to the album while reading the rest of the article.

Black Reuss offers a fantastic fusion of distinct qualities from various bands and styles, including HIM, Rammstein, Metallica (especially during the Load, Reload, and Garage Inc. eras), Alice in Chains, and Ghost. I must admit that their standards for a debut album have left a lasting impression on me.

The band has also produced two professionally filmed music videos that provide insight into their visual aesthetic, theme, and atmosphere. While these videos may not reach the production standards of the established bands I mentioned earlier, they are commendable works for an emerging band, a rarity to come by.

Musically, Black Reuss stands out with their undeniable influences. As someone who grew up listening to classic rock, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the Metamorphosis album. The album flows beautifully, with each song maintaining its distinctiveness and keeping the excitement alive from start to finish. While the song structures carry traditional rock influences, the compositions are far from ordinary.

Additionally, the band skillfully incorporates elements from various modern rock acts such as Ghost, Depeche Mode, and Rammstein. They successfully infuse electronic elements, bringing forth a dark and groovy ambiance. While this combination may seem unimaginable at first, trust me, the result is exceptional music.

The technical aspect of the album deserves recognition as one of the best-sounding modern rock albums of the year. It is vibrant, authentic, atmospheric, and incredibly well-balanced. Black Reuss has exceeded expectations that are usually associated with up-and-coming bands. It is worth noting that this is a one-man project, written, produced, and featuring the keys of Maurizio Dottore.

Taking all these aspects into account, I am thoroughly impressed by Black Reuss. They possess a magnificent sound and create fantastic music. I see no reason why they couldn't ascend to the pinnacle of the music world in the future!
