The Algorithm is actually a one-man project of Rémi Gallego, composer, software developer, and tech enthusiast. I have heard about his project about two months ago and couldn’t resist this incredible musicality. Let me go into the details below.
I am a big fan of composers who write music for movies and video games such as Hans Zimmer, Jeff Van Dyck, and Jeremy Soule. The Algorithm caught my attention with their similar approach, even though I personally don’t necessarily listen to any electronic music at all. Readonly, is one of those good examples which I believe would be a perfect fit for any futuristic or post-apocalyptic movie or video game. The song has the essential quality in its storytelling, flow, and energy.
On the other hand, the composition is quite complex and progressive, immediately pulling the listener into its world with its atmosphere. The song begins with its brutal main riff, where we also hear some kind of coding as an additional cinematic effect. Most importantly, this draws an image in the listeners’ minds, a dramatic, dark, and futuristic world. And I must also admit that this is one of the few projects that I haven’t heard of any weaknesses both musical and technical.
