Reckoning Hour – Away from the Sun Song Review – Metalhead Community
Today we are featuring another promising metalcore band; Reckoning Hour, from Brazil. We have reviewed their badass song; Away From the Sun, along with its character, style, story, potential and more.
Reckoning Hour is another promising technical/progressive/metalcore band I have discovered through Metalhead Community Submissions about three weeks ago with this song; Away From the Sun, off from their latest release; Beyond Conviction, which was released in 2019. Beware! The song can blow your mind away with its monstrous opening riff. At least it was the reason I listened to the song a few times before making my decision. I am sure people who are into djent and metalcore will be addicted to this song for some time.
The style of the song, in general, has immediately reminded me of Killswitch Engage. Powerful technical riffs, growling vocals on verse and melodic choruses have become their significant way of writing music (yes, I know not only Killswitch Engage’s way, but they are one of the pioneers in this) and they apparently have influenced so many people, especially musicians. Away From the Sun is a great song with so many things to offer. First of all, it has a bulletproof sound with many captivating elements, riffs, and ideas. Honestly, if I was working with Reckoning Hour, I’d probably guide them more into progressive metal with all these abilities they have. In this song, they show amazing potential and with the right kind of guidance they can easily reach their own sound and style and start touring the world in the future.
These things I have mentioned above, not just criticism but tips. And the reason is, there are so many bands out there following the same exact method in writing songs, which I find a little bit inconvenient. It’s like the whole world ran out of ideas and started writing songs with the same structure; super-powerful opening riffs, verse with growling vocals and then melodic chorus sections. I mean, cmon guys you can do better than that. All you have to do is to think about it a little bit more. Reckoning Hour in this way has followed this example as well. Yet, I believe in their potentials.
Technically, Away From the Sun has exceptional standards in every way. Truly. This is one of the greatest sounding metal songs I have listened to lately. Everything sounds super clean, clear, natural, powerful, impressive, very well balanced, engineered, polished and in great harmony. It simply is a top-class job. I’d say they have done the right thing by working with their producer (I have no idea who he is, but anyway). He basically understood the band, their potential, and desires, contributed on their monstrous sounding music.
When I take all these into account, I’d like to say that I am well impressed by the potential of Reckoning Hour. Again, they have potential, musicianship skills, and creativity. All they have to do is to listen to themselves a little bit more while the time guides them and their music to the right place.
Please go ahead and check out the links below if you’d like to find out more about the band, follow them on social media and subscribe to their channels to show your support and also not to miss any upcoming releases.
