Insular – Half Measures Song Review

Today we are featuring another promising metalcore band; INSULAR, from the USA. We have reviewed their badass piece; Half Measures, along with its character, style, story, potential and more.

INSULAR is a promising metalcore band I have discovered about 2 months ago with their new impressive song; Half Measures, off from their latest release with the same title, which was released in 2020. Insular is a brand new band from Knoxville, and Half Measures is only their second official single release. Although these American gentlemen are just at the beginning of their musical careers, they are showing great professionalism with everything they do so far. So please check out the song while reading the rest of the article.

Half Measures is a powerful song, mostly structured with an irresistible aggressive attitude all along the way. The general approach to the recording, mixing, and build of the composition is quite modern as you will also hear. They have followed the most standard way in building up this song just like every other metalcore band is doing out there; aggressive/scream/brutal verse sections, combined with melodic choruses. Honestly, I am seeing more and more bands lately doing the same thing with the same kind of approach. This doesn’t mean that these people are making a mistake, absolutely not. They are just at the beginning of their careers and I am sure with proper guidance they are talented enough to bring much more originality to their specific music genre than this. Half Measures in this way is a successful piece of work, a big step forward for Insular indeed. They are showing potential with their partitions, ideas, dynamics, energy flow and many other ideas in the making, without a doubt.

Technically, Half Measures has great standards in every way. I am not a big fan of modern mixing in metal music, yet I liked the energy flow and the overall feeling of this track. This was one of the main reasons I decided to say; “they are showing professionalism” in the first place. As you might also remember from some of my previous articles that we usually don’t expect to hear these high standards from upcoming bands. Insular, in this way, is on the right track as well as there’s a lot to improve.

When I take all these into account, I’d like to say that I am very optimistic about INSULAR and their future careers. These only two songs are saying very positive things about them and I am sure the solid feedback they receive for their achievements so far will be motivating enough for them to continue making music and improve themselves in the right direction (the ultimate Insular music style)!

Please go ahead and check out the links below if you’d like to find out more about the artist/band, follow them on social media and subscribe to their channels to show your support and also not to miss any upcoming releases.
